Frequently Asked Questions:

Ok, Nobody frequently asks us anything! But here's some gumpf about the podcast you might like to know.

Why did you change the articles? Theres less information!

Producing the podcasts and writing a full length referenced article is a huge ammount of work often leading to delays in the articles being released. We’ve decided to reduce the written information we provide and instead sign post you to the resources we’ve found useful and the general references we use. We will still upload graphics and short written segments, if there are things we couldn’t fit in the podcast, but ultimately, we think we can bring you more CPD by using our time better.
We’re open to feedback however, so let us know what you think on our contact form.

Why do you make the podcast?

As students, we felt there was a gap in the FOAMed available, for podcasts made by ambulance staff, for ambulance staff. We also feel there is a lacking in material that focuses on the UK paramedic scope of practice, in its entirity. Thats why we tackle everything from managing a “simple” fall non injury to pre-hospital anaesthesia.

Why don’t you reference properly?

We decided to reference this way for a number of reasons. Primarily as an online resource, we wanted to make it as easy and user friendly as possible, for people to find and navigate to the sources we've used. By mainly using weblinks we hope to encourage users to navigate directly to the source and read the materials further instead of just taking our word for it. Also...we hated referencing properly in uni and we're going to avoid it if we can.

How can I get the podcast on my phone/ipod?

The podcast is available on any 'podcatcher'. Simply search and find us on iTunes, spotify or similar podcasting app, subscribe and you'll get the latest episodes when they're released.

How do you decide what topics to talk about? Are they your areas of speciality?

Oh No, no no no no no! Much of what we decide to discuss in the podcast is part of our own CPD and research to improve ourselves as clinicians. Producing the podcasts require a lot of research and trawling of evidence which helps us learn. We felt releasing this work as podcasts would help other clinicians and students direct their own learning, rather than all that work just sitting in our CPD folders gathering dust.

Who is the podcast aimed at?

We try to pick subjects that will be applicable to all grades of clinician from brand new care assistant to advanced practitioner and which covers things useful to people who work or have an interest in the hugely diverse field which is outbof hospital care. Whilst not specifically aimed at any one particular grade or role, we are hoping that our podcast will be very useful to ambulance staff, Student paramedics, paramedic educators and mentors.

What happened to the old theme music?

We don't talk about the old theme music...

The website is displaying weirdly…How do I fix it?

The website is edited and designed to be viewed at 100% magnification. If you zoom in or out too much, some of the words may appear slightly out of place or “wonky”. Try adjusting your magnification or trying another browser. If that doesn’t work try contacting us..we probably won't know the answer, but we love to talk about the podcast!
